How we earn revenue

IPLens generates revenue through enhanced vendor listings — a higher-visibility tier that provides additional profile features and placement in the directory. IPLens may also earn referral fees from vendors when a buyer contacts a vendor through the platform.

What listing tier does NOT affect

A vendor's listing tier (basic or enhanced) never influences:

• AI-generated shortlist rankings from the needs assessment wizard
• Weighted comparison matrix scores
• AI-generated comparison summaries
• RFP content or vendor selection criteria
• Product capability tags or verification status

Listing tier is stored in our database but is explicitly excluded from all public API responses and AI model inputs. This is enforced at the code level and audited periodically.

How AI recommendations are generated

The needs assessment wizard uses Anthropic Claude (claude-haiku-4-5-20251001) to rank shortlisted products. The model is given: product name, company, description, capability tags, pricing model, and deployment — but not listing tier, revenue relationship, or any commercial metadata.

Comparison summaries use Anthropic Claude (claude-sonnet-4-6). The same exclusions apply.

Vendor verification

Verification status (unverified / claimed / verified) reflects whether a vendor has confirmed and updated their listing — not whether they are a paying customer. Unverified listings are clearly marked and can appear in any shortlist position.
